Treatment of wastewater 

SmVaK Ostrava operates sewage systems in 76 towns. The length of the sewage system is 1,774 km. More than 521,000 people are connected to the SmVaK Ostrava’s sewage system. SmVaK Ostrava also operates 65 wastewater treatment plants (59 mechanical-biological and  6 mechanical WWTPs) with the total capacity of  268,680 m3 per day (977,029 population equivalent).
In 2015 SmVaK treated 45,865,000 m3 of wastewater where  45,492,000 m3 was treated with compliant quality.
